Bay Area Equity Collaborative Honors Kalima Rose
Kalima Rose, PolicyLink Senior Director, was honored for her foresight in advocating for equity to be included as part of the Sustainable Communities Initiative process. “That advocacy convinced the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to make equity a part of the DNA of the program,” said Gen Fujioka of the National Coalition for Asian Pacific Community Development and co-Chair of the SCI Equity Collaborative when presenting the award to Kalima. She added that Kalima had played a pivotal role in “assuring the implementation of the grant moved in the direction of supporting social justice and equity.”
The Sustainable Communities Initiative program at PolicyLink provides technical assistance to regions that are working to deliver communities of opportunity through equity-focused planning. The program is part of the PolicyLink Center for Infrastructure Equity, which advocates for fair and inclusive policies and provides community and grassroots leaders, advocates, and public officials with the tools, training, and consultation needed to ensure that public investments in infrastructure create economic opportunity and health in all communities.
